Any opinion on why Burr and Ensign ended up switching at the last minute?

I've not seen anything about Burr and Ensign. Maybe they felt that they needed to kowtow to party leadership on the cloture vote -- if so, those were "safe" votes. The more interesting one to me is Burr's vote, given his southern geography.

So that years later when this issue is far behind us they can say "See, I voted to repeal DADT". They knew the GOP was going to lose and that this will haunt them later and they want no part of it.

One day we will look back on the anti-gay bigots just like we look upon the misogynistic and racist bigots of old. It will haunt them for the rest of their political lives. Ensign and Burr were just trying to get on the winning team.

They did it......finally! This had gone on for far too long.

As we know, there is no correlation whatsoever between an individual’s sexual orientation and their ability or capacity to serve in the military….or their patriotism, for that matter.

Congratulations to Congress on repealing DADT! Now, sign it, Mr. Obama.

That's what the chauvinists said about women joining.

It's nice to see the bigots of today will soon join those of yesterday as a blurb in a history book.
